Artist statement

When I photograph, I try to find ways to view common scenes in uncommon ways. Much of my work has a somewhat documentary feel. But I also enjoy capturing abstract details, wider views which have an abstract quality to them and diptychs (two related views of a scene). In addition, I’ve also started playing around with panoramic photos, capturing a sequence of images and stitching them together.

Process

I use digital cameras and try to use a tripod whenever possible. I spend a lot of time composing each shot, almost like I’m using a view camera. I believe in capturing images using the camera’s Raw format, to start with the highest possible quality. I use Photoshop on Macs to process the images, and make my prints on Epson printers.

Editions

Prints that I make which are larger than 13×19″ may be limited editions. All smaller prints are open editions.

Prints

Unsigned prints in various sizes (including mattted & framed prints) may be available in the near future from commercial print sources. Contact me if you’re interested.

Also contact me if you would like me to personally make you a print and sign it. I make my prints in the following standard sizes (archival pigment ink on paper, unmatted & unframed):

6×8″ or 6×9″ image on 8.5×11″ paper: $40
10×15″, 11×16.5″ or 12×16″ image on 13×19″ paper: $80

I’m still thinking about standard sizes and pricing for panoramic images. Contact me if you’re interested or have some suggestions.

The shipping cost for prints I make is $7 via USPS Priority Mail. Prints made on paper sizes up to 11″x14″ will be shipped flat; larger prints will be shipped in a tube.

Print authenticity

I sign & date the prints that I make in pencil on the reverse side. Prints of my images made by commercial services are not signed.
